The story of Geierslay was started in 1465 when Johann Von Kilburg
The story of Geierslay was started in 1465 when Johann Von Kilburg took over his father-in-law’s business. Today, with complete dedication and love for vines, the 19th generation of Kilburg family delivers top-class wines, keeping the ancestral legacy alive. Their wine categories include luscious red, white, and rose wines, in combination with high-quality sparkling and dessert wines, all made within the Wintrich appellation. Geierslay’s award-winning Riesling wines are well-known worldwide.
With great respect for Mother Nature, they cultivate a broad range of vines including Riesling, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Blanc
With great respect for Mother Nature, the historic winery cultivates a broad range of vines. It includes fruity Riesling, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Blanc, along with top-notch Pinot Gris and Merlot. The harvesting is done manually, and only the carefully selected bunches are moved to the wine cellar for soft pressing, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Most of the wines are produced from 50 years old grapes, ensuring dense aromas and powerful minerality.
The estate has a variety of wooden oak barrels, lined up wonderfully in the wine cellar where they store their vintages for active aging and refining. Max and Stefan Kilburg have brought many innovative techniques into the winery, keeping the traditional methods alive.
