How the Winery came to be

Originally from Bordeaux where our family owns 3 wine estates, we fell in love with South Africa during our many travels to the country. Our dream was to combine both, the Old & the New World, to make wines close to our vision of perfection. Therefore, we decided to purchase this boutique wine estate of 32 hectares (including 24 on vines) located in Simonsberg valley in 2004. Manual harvesting, selection of the best grapes, French oak and Acacia barrel aging, combined with a French "savoir-faire" from our South-African winemaker Jos Van Wyk, will lead you to explore some of the finest wines produced in the region.

Winemaking with Minimal Intervention

At Marianne we are privileged to have two state-of-the-art boutique wineries, each perfectly equipped to elaborate fine, hand crafted wines. Influenced by our French heritage and international savoir-faire, we strive to make French-style wines with a touch of South African vibes. At Marianne, we believe in natural, minimal intervention winemaking, with the firm belief that the secret to a great wine lies in the vineyard and in the beautiful landscape that surrounds it.

Beautiful experience at Marianne Wines, lovely rooms with a great rustic feel. Staff are extremely accommodating and respond quick to requests. Modernise the bar fridges though as nothing stayed cold.Breakfast only had apple juice on offer which was a bit odd but overall lovely stay at your Winefarm.

Sloooow to respond on email, it took three attempts. Lovely service, very knowledgeable (thank you Clemence) although a little slow... We had to chase the wines. The biltong pairing is fabulous. The Floreal (red 2008) is phenomenal.

Booked this on booking.com. This place is a gem, we were exceptionally early, and it was no problem they looked after us while they got the room ready. We also discovered that in your room there is a free bottle of wine for you to sit and enjoy and you also get a free wine tasting with the accommodation. All the staff were exceptional, very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and just went above and beyond to make your stay the best experience ever. Thank you so much for making our first night the best.

Beautiful place to spend the evening while enjoying a beautiful sunset. Had the opportunity to do some wine tasting as well and the food served there was sublime. Had one of the best steak since long and it was value for money
