Champion wines of South Africa

An Interesting History of Holden Manz Wine Estate

The winery’s history dates back to the 1990s, when Gerard Holden and Migo Man set out with a clear goal in mind: to make exceptional wines from noble grape varietals. They assisted in the selection of Franschhoek, Western Cape, South Africa, based on their extensive travels to various wine areas throughout the world and the knowledge gained over the years. Thanks to its unique location between the rivers Franschhoek and Stoney Brook, the winery produces superb red, white, pink and fortified wines.

A Fascinating Journey of The Winery

Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah are the most common grapes used to make wine. The Decanter World Wine Award 2011 awarded their Big G 2009 Premium wine with a gold medal. The estate has begun its journey to organic production by recycling waste, growing products in a natural manner, and reducing energy waste with the goal of becoming carbon-neutral.

Praise For Their Wines

Many visitors to the estate have expressed their admiration for the extraordinary combination of modern art exhibited in the winery’s architecture. Each wine is a piece of art, and the restaurant ‘Franschhoek cuisine’ serves it to finesse. The estate’s gastronomy includes a classical cheese and meat platter, as well as fish cakes and other meals. Guests who want to recuperate can get it at the 5-star guest house and in the estate’s day spa.
