The Niccolai family—especially Luano Niccolai, founder of Tenute Niccolai and the heart of the Palagetto Agricultural Company—has deep roots in San Gimignano. From the first vineyards in Santa Chiara, where the winery still stands today, the estate has steadily expanded to over 60 hectares, primarily cultivated with vines and olive trees.

San Gimignano is home to a wine that breaks Tuscany’s stereotype as a land of only red wines: Vernaccia di San Gimignano, the elegant “white lady” among noble reds. This historic grape variety, which lends its name to the local DOCG, has been documented since the 13th century and is famously the only wine mentioned by Dante in the Divine Comedy. Savory, mineral, fresh, and long-lived, Vernaccia perfectly embodies the character of the people and the land it comes from.

Alongside this iconic white wine, Palagetto offers an extensive selection of labels—each one the result of the family’s creativity and the expertise of the distinguished collaborators who have supported the estate over the years.

A real insider tip for all lovers of good wine and good food. Plenty of time is taken during the wine tasting. The price-performance ratio is excellent, and the vineyards surrounding the property are well worth a visit. We'll be back.

We received a friendly welcome and opted for the cheapest tasting at €20 per person. We had to wait a little while, but the staff apologized several times. We tasted a total of four wines, accompanied by some cheese, bread, and spread. Everything was explained. The only thing that really bothered me was having to pay for the wine tasting even after making a purchase (over €200!). At that price, one could perhaps overlook the limited samples and the "small platter." I just find it unnecessary.

We went to a wine tasting. The lady was very kind and professional. She told us about each wine, which allowed us to delve deeper into the topic of Tuscan wines. Definitely worth a visit, with very reasonable prices.

A wonderful experience, interesting and full of information about how wine is made. Our "guide," Fiamma, was kind, friendly, and clear in her explanations. Excellent wine. Highly recommended.

We had a wine tasting with a light brunch that included bruschetta, cheeses, salami, and ham. We loved it! The wines were delicious, the olive oil was incredible 💚, and Chiara's service was outstanding; she even spoke Spanish. She was fantastic!!
