The estate's name first appeared in the land registry during the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1765, marking its long-standing heritage. Nestled in the renowned Upper Vipava Valley, this area has been celebrated by historians, including Janez Vajkard Valvasor, who documented its significance in his work, "Glory of the Duchy of Carniola."
In addition to the winery, visitors can admire local landmarks such as the Church of St. Matthew, charming old vaulted doors, picturesque waterfalls, and Slovenia’s oldest agricultural school. The estate is set amidst lush vineyards, where the family tradition of crafting high-quality wines continues to thrive.
Spanning ten hectares, the vineyards at Rouna are tended with care, utilizing both manual and machine methods. The region's marl soil and unique microclimate create ideal conditions for cultivating premium grapes. Rouna collaborates with local winemakers to promote the distinctive Pinela and Zelen grape varieties. Other grapes grown here include Sauvignon, Rumeni Muškat, Merlot, Barbetta, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The finest grapes are transformed into exceptional red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines. Rouna Winery takes pride in its craftsmanship and has received numerous national and international awards for its outstanding wines.

Great pitch in the vineyards at a beautiful and modern winery. Rental fee: €15 (includes electricity, water, WiFi, waste disposal, and plumbing). Wine tasting with delicious wines and a great snack, also reasonably priced at €23. 100% recommended.

Beautiful pitch near the vines, partly gravel, partly grass, partly electricity, very clean sanitary facilities with shower/toilet (shared use for men and women), covered lounge area with fridge where you can get your wine chilled. The wine tasting with very extensive cold platters was really great.

We used the winery and its parking space twice! We did a great wine tasting with homemade cheese/ham/bread for €23 per person. The place is ideal to visit when passing through or for a tasting. We paid €15 for the parking space.

We stayed there for one night, and it was definitely one of our highlights in Slovenia. We were lucky enough to be able to take part in the wine tasting that evening, which we highly recommend. The facility was very clean, and everything was totally uncomplicated and relaxed. We'll definitely be back!
