One of the Oldest in the Region

Rietvallei Wine Estate counts among South Africa’s oldest family-owned wine estates and was one of the first wine farms established in the picturesque Robertson Wine Valley. Rietvallei lies in the Klaas Voogds ward, a region with unique soil structures and climatic influences ideal for wine grape cultivation, situated some eight kilometers east of Robertson town on the way to the Little Karoo.

A History of 150 years at Rietvallei

          

In 2014 Rietvallei reached a major milestone by becoming one of only a handful of South African wine estates to celebrate 150 years of ownership under one family. This heritage of a pioneering Robertson-based wine culture under the guidance of six generations of the Burger family has contributed to Rietvallei’s reputation of excellence in viticulture and winemaking. Intimate knowledge of the soils and an understanding of the interaction between nature and vine, along with visionary winemaking practices, lie at the heart of Rietvallei’s status for premier winemaking over generations.

A beautiful estate with spectacular wines. A surprise welcome with sparkling wine and a tasty bread. The host, Denise was lovely, friendly and welcoming.

This place was absolutely amazing. What an absolute treat. On arrival we were handed a complimentary glass of bubbly and garlic flat bread which was a great touch. I ended up buying a bottle of the bubbly, I just had to. We had the platter for two and let me tell you it is well worth the money. The selection of breads, cheeses and extras on the platter really impressed my partner and I and everything was delicious, especially the fresh bread. The wine tasting was really well presented and the wine itself really good aswell. The vibe was extremely relaxed and the mist sprinklers on the hot day was much appreciated. The staff was extremely friendly and made the experience very enjoyable. Thank you for the lovely day, we will be back for sure!

The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure a memorable visit. Their attention to detail and passion for their wines truly shone through in every interaction. The wine tasting experience costed only 50 rand. Not only did I get to sample a variety of their exquisite wines, but I also received a complimentary glass of their refreshing sparkling brut and delicious garlic cheese shortbread, adding an extra touch of luxury to the experience. Overall, I highly recommend Rietvallei Wine Estate to any wine enthusiast or visitor looking for a superb wine tasting experience. With exceptional wines, excellent service, and a beautiful setting, it's truly a gem.
