Perched on the picturesque slopes of Thörnicher Ritsch, Weingut Gebr. Ludwig is a historic family winery in the Mosel region, celebrated for its exquisite Riesling wines. Spanning ten hectares, the estate cultivates a harmonious blend of red and white grape varieties, thriving in the region's unique pedo-climate and fertile terroirs. Since 2003, this winery has proudly operated as a certified biodynamic estate, producing organic white, dessert, and sparkling wines that reflect the essence of the land.

A Legacy of Winemaking Since the 1600s

The roots of Ludwig Brothers Winery trace back to a 1628 document confirming the family's ownership of vineyards in the 17th century. The name Gebrüder Ludwig emerged during the post-war era. Thomas Ludwig, the current owner, fondly recalls his grandfather and his brothers running the winery in the 1950s. In 1964, his father took the reins and transformed the operations. Thomas joined the family business in 2000 and acquired the estate in 2005, with the support of his wife, Meike.

Quality Begins in the Vineyard

Riesling grapes dominate the vineyards, making up 80% of the estate's plantings. Other white varieties include Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, and Sauvignon Blanc, while fruity reds like Frühburgunder and St. Laurent also flourish here. Thomas employs traditional, environmentally friendly practices in both the vineyards and the cellar, ensuring that each wine achieves the perfect balance of finesse, sweetness, and acidity, complemented by a distinctive salty minerality.
