Kreuz-bauer, the Winery Established in 1649 on Moselweinstr
The winery Kreuz-Bauer was established in 1649 on Moselweinstr, directly located on the sunny island of Minhiem in the Middle Moselle region. After the building of their house, owners erected a red sandstone cross right in front of it, and hence it came to be known as the Cross Bauer. The quiet village of Minhiem has the Wintricher Ohligsberg on one side and the rugged Piesport rocks on the other. One can enjoy panoramic visuals over villages, forests, and mountains, and there is a calm and relaxing river landscape. Right in line with the village church, their vineyards can be seen and admired. The staff works in harmony to achieve their main aim, which is to make the best wines possible. For guests on holiday, they have guest rooms and apartments to host them and give a delightful experience.
Gifted Terroir Where Best Grapes Are Grown
The winery was converted to organic viticulture and is a proud member of the Ökovin association. Currently, their vineyards are spread over an area of 5.5 hectares and are mainly present on the Devonian slate. The slate soil is mixed with clay and ahs a lot of minerals. It can store the heat in chilly autumn nights, and this, along with the ideal microclimate, helps in growing fruity grapes that make great wines. The main types of grapes that grow in their estate are Grauburgunder, Saint-Laurent, Bacchus, Optima, and Müller-Thurgau. The workers handpick the best grapes and use them to make their award-winning red, white, rose, sparkling, and dessert wines.
