A Legacy of Winemaking in Slovenia's Primorska Region
The Heritage of Zaloščan Vina De Adami Winery
The Slejko family's winemaking tradition dates back to 1926, making it nearly a century old. Today, Borut Slejko, the fourth generation, continues this legacy with plans to pass it on to his son, the fifth generation. Under Borut's stewardship, the winery has expanded to 8 hectares (19.8 acres), reflecting a commitment to honoring his ancestors while implementing a thoughtful vision for the future.
Located in the Scenic Vipava Valley
Zaloščan Vina De Adami is nestled in Zalošče, Dornberk, within the picturesque Vipava Valley of Slovenia's Primorska region. Historical records indicate that the Adami family was instrumental in introducing grape cultivation to this area, which later spread throughout the Vipava Valley and into the Goriška region.
Natural Practices in the Vineyard
Since 1990, Zaloščan Vina De Adami has bottled and sold wines under the “de Adamis” label. In 1995, a larger cellar was constructed to accommodate bottling, storage, and wine tasting. The winery adheres to a natural philosophy, avoiding herbicides to produce wines free from harmful substances. This commitment reflects a deep respect for people, nature, and the environment, as they strive to cultivate grapes in the most eco-friendly manner while honoring traditional winemaking practices.
With a focus on quality and sustainability, Zaloščan Vina De Adami refrains from using herbicides and harmful chemicals.
