Your experience begins at Cantina il Passo, located along the historic Appia Antica, the ancient Roman road connecting Puglia to Rome. The winery's name comes from its first land, "the Pass," which features a beautiful olive grove where you’ll learn about its significance. Spanning 50 hectares, the estate includes vineyards, olive groves, and fields of durum wheat, barley, and oats. A member of the Grimolizzi family will guide you along a scenic walking path through the vineyards. The cellar, carved into the mountain and dating back to the 1700s, showcases the winemaking process from grape arrival to bottling. The oldest section, dating back to the 1200s, features a historic Palmento, where you’ll hear stories of ancient grape harvesting techniques. During this unique experience, stroll through the vineyard, enjoy a picnic with a selection of local products, and savor a glass of Alberi in Piano wine. You’ll also have the option to purchase wines directly from the cellar.

Small winery rich in history, very good and award-winning Aglianico wine. We attended a tasting with a very fun and engaging show after the guided tour. The passion that this family puts into what they do is certainly one of the strong points of this winery!

We did the tasting on Saturday afternoon. We were welcomed into a familiar and friendly environment, where we were accompanied by the two owners through the centuries of their family's history. This journey unfolded in the tasting room and in their cellar where they produce their only wine, An Aglianico del Vulture DOCG awarded many times by national and international critics. A special wine, above all for all the precautions that have been taken in its production and refinement. I absolutely recommend you stop by to taste it and, perhaps, get some bottles.
