At Domaine de la Vieille, nestled in the stunning Pic Saint-Loup region, our family has been nurturing vines for generations. The legacy of winemaking has been passed down from father to son, each adding their unique touch to our beloved vineyard.
In 2002, Guy RATIER took the reins after his parents retired, establishing a new cellar that marked a new chapter for our wines. That year, we introduced the Pic Saint-Loup and Le Sang du Visigoth cuvées, both crafted from a harmonious blend of 50% Syrah and 50% Grenache, with the latter aged for 12 months in barrels.
Our vineyard is not just about wine; it holds history too. A parcel of Syrah is home to an ancient Visigoth cemetery, a fascinating discovery made by Roger and René RATIER, documented by Doctor Jean ARNAL.
We take pride in producing authentic wines under the AOC Coteaux du Languedoc and Pic Saint-Loup labels. In 2014, we completed our transition to organic farming, focusing on natural treatments derived from plant decoctions, flowers, and essential oils to minimize the use of copper and sulfur.
Our natural remedies include horsetail, nettle, and dandelion, while we use yarrow and chamomile for flowers. Lavender and sweet orange essential oils are applied in homeopathic doses, ensuring a gentle approach to vineyard care.
This commitment to organic practices extends through all stages of winemaking, from vine to bottle. We honor the traditional methods of our ancestors, blending time-tested techniques with modern sustainability.
