The history of Maremma wines

The history of the Santa Lucia Farming Company began in 1980 when Luciano brought the first harvest in bottles. Santa Lucia is located on a hill, the structure was designed to be functional, practical and energy efficient. The cellar is almost entirely underground. This results in a lower impact on the landscape and a lower amount of energy needed to manage temperatures.

With a high roof to overlook the surrounding vineyards and large windows to enjoy the beautiful views, the winery nestles comfortably in its own private valley surrounded by olive trees and rolling vineyards.

Award winning wines

The winery underwent a major renovation in 2010, with the completion of the new cellar and the use of cutting-edge technology both in the vineyards and in the cellar, the company was able to improve the quality of the wine and winemaking techniques. The vineyard extends over 40 hectares producing Sangiovese, Morellino, Vermentino, Ansonica, Alicante, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The company produces 11 different wines with an annual production of 160,000 bottles. The company puts immense love and passion into their work every day to guarantee quality bottles of wine with the essence of the Maremma Toscana.

Life is too short to drink cheap wines

The winery has been producing wines exclusively from its own mostly indigenous vineyards since its foundation. The philosophy of the company revolves around producing individual wines with the utmost care. Quality begins with the preparation of the land, followed by the selection, reproduction and planting of the best clones using a biodynamic approach in the fields. They use French oak barrels Allier, TronÇais, the abolition of stabilization and filtration to get the best out of the grapes. The wines are typical, recognizable, well structured with a ripe and fruity taste.
