Castello Della Paneretta- A beautiful winery located in the Chianti Classico wine area

With a history spanning over four centuries, Castello Della Paneretta is located in the Chianti Classico denomination, on the western slopes of the Val d'Elsa foothills, near San Gimignano. The estate's vineyards extend over an area of 309 hectares from which the owner produces top-quality Chianti Classico DOCG wines. A smaller plot of 22 hectares is dedicated to the production of wines with the IGT label.

A brief history of the winery

The history of Castello Della Paneretta began in 1596, founded around an old watchtower built in 1260. In 1577, Maddalena married Ludovico and brought the castle transformed into a winery as a dowry. The couple completely restored the interior and it became a tourist spot for artists and writers. Later, in 1669, Cassandra Capponi brought the property as a dowry to the Strozzi family. Over the years, many families have an interesting history with this castle. Later, in 1984, the Albisetti family purchased the castle and began producing wines.

A passionate and dedicated family

With great passion and determination for the wine business, the current family produces a wide range of grapes. The main grape varieties of Castello Della Paneretta are Sangiovese and Canaiolo Colorino, with which the owner produces high-quality wines with DOCG and IGT status. Other types of vines include Trebbiano and Malvasia.

During the harvest, the berries are picked by hand and taken to the winery for processing. The owner follows traditional and innovative methods of wine production, such as fermentation in stainless steel tanks, aging and refining in oak barrels to give the wines an essence of wood. The winery's wine categories include delicious red, rosé and dessert wines.
