A Rich History to Begin With

Founded in 1963, the Cooperative Garriguella has a legacy of over 50 years in winemaking. This cooperative began with a small group of local wine producers and growers who united to enhance agricultural practices and achieve better financial outcomes. The wines produced here are celebrated for their exceptional quality and cultural significance, reflecting the unique terroir of the region. Today, the Cooperative Garriguella stands as a cornerstone of the D.O. Emporda Tradition, elevating Garriguella's status as a prominent wine-producing town.

Commitment to Quality

With 55 dedicated members and 160 hectares of vineyards, the cooperative cultivates a variety of grapes, including Garnacha, Mazuelo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Tempranillo, Macabeo, and Moscato. Annually, they produce around 1.2 million kilograms of grapes, resulting in approximately 800,000 liters of wine. The cooperative is part of the D.O. Emporda Wine Route, showcasing the region's rich viticultural heritage. Visitors can find a selection of wines, including Emporda style DO Emporda wines, Mediterranean spirits, Llepafils, sweet DO Emporda wines, Cava, and Celler Gerisena DO Emporda wines, available for purchase at the agro-shop.

We usually go several times a year since we are from Vallés Oriental. Both the restaurant and the shop are a must-see and this last time we did the wine and cheese tasting + visit to their winery, highly recommended. I would like to highlight the treatment and professionalism of everyone, they have always maintained an excellent level, something that today is an invaluable personal review. Impossible to define it with words. A pleasure.

2021: Good meal under the mulberry trees, good products. Fair prices but very long wait before being able to sit down. 2022: This summer 2022, the restaurant terrace was enlarged and all the tables are placed on it (no more tables in the parking lot). Quick seating at a table (in Spain it is the staff who comes to get you to sit down). The restaurant and shop staff are available and attentive.

A must-visit place when you travel through Alt Empordà. At the cooperative you can buy their wine products and especially their Vermouth. And then a good breakfast or lunch, depending on what happens.
