About the Winemaker

Guido, the owner of Az. Agr. Il Sole Verde, has always cherished the land of his childhood. After spending 35 years in the city and working for nearly three decades in banking, he decided to return to his roots. With the support of his wife Angela, a dedicated teacher, and a significant contribution from their son Francesco, they revitalized an abandoned farm in the picturesque Tuscan countryside.

History of Il Sole Verde

In 1998, Guido embarked on a new chapter near Siena. With his personal home already renovated, he focused on cultivating the land and nurturing the existing vineyards. He was fortunate to meet Piero and Armando, who guided him in the early years. The farm needed a memorable name, and during a dinner with former colleagues, “Sole Verde” was suggested. Guido adapted it to “Il Sole Verde,” perfectly reflecting the essence of the farm. By April 1999, the farm welcomed its first guest, Mr. Roberto, and by 2000, it was operating at full capacity. Continuous improvements, inspired by Angela’s creativity and Guido’s hard work, have since enhanced the guest experience.

A Family-Run Winery

Guido’s in-laws played a crucial role in maintaining and beautifying the farm. Antonio, his father-in-law, provided invaluable support and encouragement. After completing the farmhouse, Guido focused on expanding the farm by replanting vineyards and adding 500 olive trees sourced from his sister. Il Sole Verde is committed to upholding traditional values while warmly welcoming guests, ensuring they feel at home. Visitors can enjoy the company of the family, often accompanied by a glass of their exquisite red wine, Solarius.

Mr. Guido Guidi is a man of immense elegance and generosity. His availability knows no limits... and his farmhouse "il SoleVerde" fully reflects the characteristics of the owner. I will carry in my heart the moments I spent on the farm and in Tuscany that Mr. Guidi showed me. I highly recommend it!!!

Solarius (the name of the wine) is obtained exclusively from Sangiovese grapes
cultivated in vineyards near the Province of Siena
harvested by hand and taking particular care of their integrity until the arrival in the cellar
where they are instantly put in a container for the fermentation phase. The wine – produced respecting the most ancient Tuscan tradition – is not modified by the addition of chemical products. Ruby color
intense aroma
characteristic harmonious flavor and rightly tanninic. It is recommended to accompany roasts
grilled meats and game
and in general it goes well with all the typical dishes of the Tuscan tradition and not least it is an excellent helper to brighten up the conversations.

From the moment we arrived, I knew we were in the right place, when the owner greeted us by saying “first things first, have you eaten?”. The owner is the best, most generous and kindest host we have ever met. We first stayed here in 2023 and we booked it because we wanted to try the organic wine and olive oil that the farm produced. Since then we have either stayed here or visited Guido to say hello (and return for his impeccable olive oil and wine to bring back home) on every trip we have made back to Italy. On our first visit, Guido kindly arranged a free wine and olive oil tasting with us and not only dressed up for the occasion in a suit but added so many lovely touches that he really made us feel so welcome in his beautiful establishment and we learned so much about the hard work it takes. It is an amazing place to be - it is peaceful (we weren’t even aware that there were other people staying in the other apartments), the perfect location to visit all of Tuscany, very clean, the beds are super comfortable, and the apartment we stayed in has a fully equipped kitchen if you really need it. Il Sol Verde has our hearts for life.

It is a wonderful accommodation in Tuscany. Wonderful garden, great houses, and a pool with great views. You can easily reach many destinations from here. The owner, Guido, is a kind-hearted person who takes very good care of the guests' well-being. He also offers a free wine tasting and olive oil tasting for every guest. This is really very interesting because he makes the wine and olive oil himself and has a lot of interesting things to tell. I can warmly recommend the accommodation. Many greetings from Germany
