A Legacy of Quality Winemaking

Founded nearly 30 years ago by the Niven family, Baileyana Winery is a testament to the pioneering spirit of the Edna Valley AVA. Catharine Niven's vision of a small vineyard producing high-quality wines has flourished alongside her husband Jack. By challenging conventional viticultural practices in California, they created wines that reflect the elegance of traditional cool-climate varietals. Today, Baileyana wines are crafted from select blocks of the historic Paragon Vineyard, established in 1973, and continue to embody the refinement and charm that Catharine brought to every gathering.

The Winery and Its Varietals

Perched on a knoll in the Edna Valley, Baileyana Winery is surrounded by the stunning Paragon Vineyard. Built in 1999, the winery features cutting-edge equipment, including a state-of-the-art fruit delivery system, versatile tanks, open-top fermentors, and four climate-controlled barrel rooms. The vineyard is home to ten grape varieties, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Viognier, Grenache Blanc, Albarino, Pinot Gris, Grüner Veltliner, and Riesling, each contributing to the winery's diverse portfolio.

Crafting Elegance in Every Bottle

Baileyana is renowned for its elegant, creamy, and well-balanced Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, sourced from cool-climate vineyards. The Paragon Vineyard was among the first on the Central Coast to achieve SIP (Sustainability in Practice) Certification in 2008, highlighting its commitment to environmental stewardship, employee welfare, and innovative practices. The Niven family continues to uphold these values, ensuring that their farming methods are responsible and considerate of the surrounding ecosystem.

We visited in early June and had the best time!! John was so smart, had an excellent sense of humour and ensured that we had an excellent time. We could not recommend this place any more! Wine was excellent, we went with the Rose and the Pinot Noir which were both 11/10, we would have bought more had we had more room in our luggage! John was awesome, can’t recommend this place enough! Thank you!!

We hosted a party in the gazebo area for 40 friends and family. It was the perfect way to bring everyone together. Baileyana was so easy to work with and helped us select great wines to serve. The team at the winery was so attentive and made sure that our white wines stayed chilled. I would highly recommend renting the gazebo area if you are looking to host an event in the future.

Amazing great service! I'm more red then white, the pinor and Syrah highly recommend. I bought the pinor and I'm more of a craft beer guy! I did the Wine sidecar tour so much fun! Went back to the winery after tour was over and did the membership.

Our expectations were far exceeded! Margarete was very accommodating, friendly and was able to tell us a lot about the wines. We had the 5 tasting wines, which were of very good quality. The Tinto was my personal favorite!
