Nestled along the banks of the Sisquoc River, known as the Santa Maria Bench, the winery has a rich history dating back to 1973 when the first grapes were planted. Since its inception, Riverbench has become a trusted source for many renowned wineries in the region, supplying high-quality grapes for their own wine productions.

Since 2006, Riverbench has been producing wines in limited quantities, available exclusively at their winery and tasting room.

In 2008, Riverbench made a commitment to focus on premium sparkling wines, drawing inspiration from the esteemed Champagne region of France. By 2019, they introduced their first sparkling wine crafted entirely from the Pinot Meunier grape, showcasing their dedication to quality and innovation.

The vineyards on the Santa Maria Bench benefit from alluvial soils rich in sand and gravel, complemented by a unique microclimate that promotes healthy vine growth. The winery cultivates a variety of grapes, including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier. Each vineyard block receives personalized care, with old vines being nurtured or replaced as needed.
