A Family-Owned Winery Revitalizing Uruguayan Vineyards
Meet the Chiappella Family
The Chiappella family has a rich history in Uruguay, having immigrated from Italy’s Piemonte region in 1926. In 1959, they established their winery in Cuchilla de Rocha, located in the heart of Canelones. Jesus Chiappella took the reins in 1988, modernizing the winery by incorporating advanced techniques and cultivating international grape varieties. Their commitment to quality has allowed them to export wines to countries such as Russia, the USA, and Mexico. With a blend of traditional methods and modern technology, they produce wines that reflect their dedication. Aging in American and French oak barrels enhances the wines' balanced flavors and aromatic profiles, while much of the bottling and packaging is done by hand.

Spanning 40 hectares, the vineyards are situated about 30 km from Montevideo, benefiting from the favorable climate and soil conditions influenced by the nearby Rio de la Plata. Key varietals include Tannat, Albarino, Marselan, Cabernet Sauvignon, Moscato Giallo, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Chardonnay, Moscatel de Hamburgo, and Alicante Bouchet. Juan Chiappella and his son Juan Martin oversee vineyard operations, prioritizing sustainability to preserve biodiversity and ensure the health of their vineyards for future generations.
