Castillo Viejo Winery: production of top-quality wines

Located in San José Department, the Castillo Viejo Winery covers an area of 54 hectares with its vineyards cultivated with prominent grape varieties. This Uruguay-based winery enjoys the cleanest ecosystem throughout the year, providing the territory with unmatchable characteristics for the production of top-quality wines.

Beautifully embedded in stunning nature

Castillo Viejo started its journey in 1927, and today, the third generation of the winegrower family is handling the administration of the winery. The winery is standing beautifully on three pillars – artisan knowledge, state-of-the-art technology, and quality management systems. Together, these three factors give birth to some of the delicious Uruguayan wines that express the exuding aromas and flavours of the soil and family’s winemaking history.

Do not miss a tasting of the wines from Uruguay

The vineyards of Castillo Viejo covered with an extensive range of vines, including high-quality Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Viognier, and Tannat. Some plots are dedicated to the cultivation of sweet Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Pinot Noir, and Marselan.

These grapes handpicked for producing top-quality artisanal wines, such as red, white, rose and sparkling

Castillo Viejo’s wine cellar consists of a wine laboratory where wines are quality-tested using modern technology. The owners use American and French wooden oak barrels for ageing and refining of grains, providing exquisite complexity to the wines. A well-trained team of oenologists takes care of all the phases of wine production, such as fermentation, bottling, maturation, etc.
