Great Wines Begin in the Vineyard

At Bodegas Clos D’Agon, we believe that the foundation of exceptional wine lies in the vineyard. Our dedicated team meticulously tends to the vines by hand, ensuring that every aspect of vineyard maintenance is performed with care. From harvesting to vine management, we prioritize natural methods over synthetic chemicals to promote healthy growth. We utilize a “double Guyot” pruning system during the vines' resting period and carefully manage vegetative growth by hand, including removing excess shoots and thinning bunches. This hands-on approach protects the vines and enhances the quality of our grapes.

Optimal Conditions for Quality Grapes

Our vineyard is situated at the base of “Les Gavarres,” surrounded by mountains that create a natural amphitheater facing the sea. This unique geography allows for a refreshing breeze from the nearby river, providing the vines with clean air. We carefully select grape varieties that thrive in this environment, including red varieties like Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Merlot, as well as white varieties such as Viognier, Marsanne, and Roussane. The clay and slate soils in this region are ideal for nurturing these grapes, ensuring they reach their full potential.

Beautiful vineyard set on the side of a hill. Our guide, Sofía, was wonderful and knowledgeable. We had the five-wine tour and none of them disappointed. Unfortunately we only have carry-ons for our trip home so we couldn’t bring any bottles with us. My favorite is the Amant. A very enjoyable way to spend two hours in a beautiful setting. And if you’re lucky, you’ll get to meet Luna. Highly recommended.

We were given a very friendly welcome for the tour. It was very interesting to see how it all works. Afterwards there was a wine tasting with explanations of the individual wines and cheese and meat to go with them. Cool wines and a great team👍

A modern winery in the heart of the Gavarres, with ancient Franco-Belgian roots. A compliment to Mondrian. Quality wines well treated by the winemakers. A reference in the Baix Empordá. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back!!

The space where the Clos d'Agon winery is located is one of the most beautiful places in Gavarres; between the sea and the mountains, the sky and the village of Calonge... arriving there is synonymous with arriving in paradise.

It's an idyllic place! They gave us a little tour explaining the different parts of the winemaking process and it was pleasant and quick but also really informative. The woman who showed us around was lovely and very patient. At the tasting they offered us the "amic" wine and it was a nice surprise, because despite being a young wine, it has structure and is very good. We were very happy and almost everyone took a bottle, whether it was white, rosé or black. On the other hand, the place itself is big and has a contrast between new and old that makes it very special.

Visiting the bodega van Clos d’Agon was a very nice experience. Also the ride to the venue was an adventure, especially after a day of rain. You will know what I mean if you plan your visit. Once arrived, we got to walk through the vineyard and visited the technical installations where the excellent wines are produced and bottled. To finish we had a wine tasting where the very best wines were served. All this, together with an inspiring guide who told us, with much enthusiasm, the story of the winery, made this an excellent event and to be repeated in the future.
