Bodegas Olarra where Wines and Art go Hand in Hand

It is impossible to conceive of Bodegas Olarra without its Architecture. The design of the building, the work of Juan Antonio Ridruejo in 1973, was inspired by and for wine. In itself, it constitutes a treatise of architecture applied to the winemaking process, to which it is perfectly adapted. Its most prominent feature, the roof which crowns the barrel cellar, made up of 111 hexagonal domes, is arranged in this way to prevent sharp changes of temperature. And we wanted to translate to our wines the same innovative, pioneering spirit that our central building represents. In some cases, as with Cerro Añón, restoring the perfect blending as the winemaking method, as has always been done in making great Rioja wines. In others, like Añares, by seeking a wine that adapts and evolves, to remain on trend with the passing of time. To write the history of Rioja.

Wines at the Winery

At Bodegas Olarra, wine is a seen as pleasure and celebration. Wine is for people to enjoy. We think of them when we make it. In how and who will enjoy it, in what their tastes are. And just as these have been changing over time, our wines have been evolving without losing the character and philosophy of our origins.

The winery has been successful in doing so for the past 50 years. Bodegas Olarra bases its wines on the best selection of raw materials, on traditional production methods that have been adapted to the new times and on a smooth evolution of its wines according to the new consumer tastes.

Highly recommended!! We booked the tour and just assumed it was going to be in English, how silly of us. Jose is a fantastic tour guide and offered to do the tour in English for us. He really went above and beyond for us! The tour is excellent and a the wines were phenomenal as was the cheese and charcuterie. Money very well spent!!

Very good winery, quite large, with a lot of history. One of the oldest wineries in the Logroño area. The man who led the tasting gave us a very good explanation, taught us how to taste the wines well and did not leave us with doubts or questions. All the best

One of the great wineries in La Rioja, popularly known as “The Cathedral of La Rioja” and an authentic architectural jewel with a “Y”-shaped floor plan as well as its spectacular barrel room crowned by 111 hexagonal-shaped domes. I went with my wife for a guided tour, I have known and bought their wines for many years, but I really wanted to see the winery. Jose was our guide, an expert and a great professional. He explained to us how the grape ends up becoming a great aged wine, a reserve or a great reserve, in a few words “from the vine to the glass”, while we walked among the barrels and bottles. Finally we enjoyed a very enjoyable tasting with the rest of the group. Quite an experience! Something that I want to add and that for me has great sentimental value is that I still have the gift of a model of an old cart that was used for the Bodegas Olarra harvest.

An authentic architectural gem that commands attention even from the outside. Located near the capital, it is now surrounded by an industrial park. Its construction and design also draw attention inside, where the guided tour is highly recommended. The food, if you choose this option, is typical of a winery but of excellent quality, and there's no skimping on the quantity of food or the great wines 🍷. The guide's explanations truly deserve an A+.

Beautiful wineries, with a guided tour of 10. It is the ideal place for wine tourism and discover the entire process to see how the grapes are finally transformed into wine. José's explanations could not have been better; We went with 0 knowledge on the subject and he made us understand everything in a simple and easy way. Dedication and attention at all times. The place is amazing. We recommend it 100% to visit if you are going to visit La Rioja.
