In 1945, Julio Ramírez de la Piscina started cultivating the family vineyards to produce traditional Rioja wine. In 1973,the family decided to build their own winemaking facility and thus, Bodegas Ramirez was founded. Julio’s children, Julio, Cecilio, and Pilar took over the winery in 1980. In 1987, the name, Bodegas Ramirez de la Piscina was given to the coveted wine. The winery in its current state was set up in 2001 and has modern features and uses the latest technologies to produce the best wine. Wines of Bodegas Ramirez de la Piscina were first only distributed in Spain, but now they also expoprt to many international markets, including the United States of America, the United Kingdom, and Japan.

The owners cultivate a variety of grapes, including Tempranillo, Viura, Malvasia, and Garnacha. The region has perfect soil, which is surrounded by the Sierra de Cantabria.
