In the 1960s, the Libanos bought the castle and started making their wines on the property. In 1973, the new winery of Bodegas Señorío de Líbano was set up in the beautiful gardens of the palace. The unit forming the castle, gardens, and winery is known as the true chateau of the region.

The Ideal Terroirs Surrounding the Castle

Bodegas Señorío de Líbano Winery has almost 48 hectares of vineyards in a three-kilometer area around the castle. The soil has calcareous clay, thus suitable for vine growth. Generally, the harvest occurs during October and November at the winery.

Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Sauvignon Blanc in Northern Rioja

In the Rioja region, commonly, Graciano, Garnacha, and Tempranillo are grown. The best grapes are selected separately in many passes through the vines and then sent to the winery for fermentation in stainless steel containers.
