A Legacy of Craftsmanship in Cognac, France
The Story of a Family-Run Cognac House
Located in Jarnac along the picturesque Charente River, Braastad Cognac has been a symbol of quality since 1875. It all began when a young man established his own House of Cognac, and today, five generations later, we continue to honor that legacy. Our commitment to crafting exceptional cognac remains as strong as it was over 130 years ago, ensuring that each bottle reflects the care and expertise of our founder.
Château de Triac: A Family Tradition
In the 1940s, Sverre Braastad, our grandfather, acquired the historic Château de Triac. This beautiful estate became a gathering place for family, where every Sunday, he and our grandmother, Edith, hosted dinner for their eight children and numerous grandchildren. This cherished tradition continued for decades, with our grandfather living at the château until the age of 99. Today, the castle serves as a venue for meetings and events, welcoming visitors to experience its rich history.
The Grapes Behind Braastad Cognac
At Braastad Cognac, we oversee every step of the production process, from grape to bottle, across our 40 hectares of vineyards. Each October, we harvest grapes for about a week, a busy time filled with activity. To be labeled "Cognac," the distilled wine must come from specific regions. Our vineyards are located within the prestigious Grande Champagne and Fins Bois crus, known for producing some of the finest grapes in the Cognac region.
