Nestled among the lush vineyards, Cabana Winery is a boutique wine estate located in the scenic countryside of Lodi, California. Today, Robert produces 18 wines, categorized under red, white, and rose wines, along with delicious dessert and fortified wines.

Three Decades of Rich Winemaking Culture

Cabana Winery was established in 2011 by Robert Smerling. He has been making wines in California for 30 years in Renwood Winery, founded by him and named after his wife, Rene. The Smirling family wanted to make an urban winery to reach a new height in the wine industry, and thus, after 19 years of Renwood Winery, they built Cabana. For the first seven years, the winemaking operations were carried out in Sacramento before expanding out everything in Lodi.

Handcrafted Wines Produced from Fertile Terroirs

With vineyards situated in some of the fertile terroirs of Napa, Sonoma, Amador County, and Lodi, Robert grows top-class Zinfandel, Cabernet, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. He also focuses on the cultivation of fruity Petite Sirah, Barbera, Sangiovese, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Moscato, and Malbec. These vines are handpicked and carefully moved to the cellar for soft pressing, followed by fermentation in small lots. They store wines in French oak barrels, beautifully lined up in the urban basement.
