Calamus Estate Winery began its story in 1999 with the establishment of Calamus Vineyards, a 14-acre property near Beamsville. The winery planted its first 10-acre vineyard in 2000, and by 2001, a second farm featuring a historic 19th-century barn was acquired to support an 8500-case winery. This second property, located next to Ball’s Falls Conservation Area, is now home to Calamus Estate Winery, where only the finest Niagara vines and hybrid grapes are cultivated.
The winery boasts a picturesque 10-acre ravine, complete with an 18-mile creek and three charming bridges, making it an ideal location for hiking, photography, and picnics. Just a short distance from the stunning Bruce Trail and adjacent to Balls Falls, Calamus offers a unique setting for outdoor events. The winery features a 350-barrel cellar, a historic barn, and multi-level outdoor decks that provide breathtaking views of the rolling vineyards. The heritage barn, dating back to the 1800s, includes a tasting room, retail store, and a loft event space that can accommodate up to 150 guests.
Calamus Estate Winery is committed to producing high-quality wines, with a focus on local ingredients. Their VQA wines, made from 100% Canadian-grown grapes, have garnered over 100 medals in both national and international competitions. From the beginning of our planning to the wedding day itself, they were incredibly attentive, professional, and caring, making the entire process smooth and enjoyable. We truly do not know where to begin in expressing how thankful we are for having Makayla and Calamus be apart of our special day! Makayla and the team truly went above and beyond all the stars!!! My family and friends walked around in awe and pure joy all night. They came to us and expressed how stunning the property was, how thoughtful the staff was, that the food was the best they have had (we might have to sneak into another wedding so we can sit more and enjoy every bit lol)! And the bar, thank you for making our perfect drinks and being patient with our family and friends as we ordered many fireballs! Our hearts are still on cloud nine!!! And you all play a huge part in that!!! Makayla, you are one that needs a round of applause and a big hug!!! The moment Trevor and I met you we instantly felt welcomed, heard and cared for. You truly have a talent and your passion for others shines through!!!! I know that you will continue to bring happy couples the same joy and happiness you brought to Trevor and I! We definitely will be back to calamus to continue enjoying the beautiful view, food and wine!

We stopped by while out on a Sunday drive. We didn't have reservations but the staff welcomed us in and showed us to the patio. We enjoyed the pizza and bottle of wine special while listening to awesome musician Rob and his guitar!! Calamus is a fabulous local winery with great atmosphere and friendly staff. My husband and I recently celebrated our wedding at Calamus Estate Winery on June 28, 2024, and it was nothing short of magical. From the breathtaking scenery to the impeccable service, every detail exceeded our expectations. The venue itself is stunning, and our guests were constantly commenting on how beautiful everything was. The dinner was delicious, and the scotch and cigar bar was a big hit with our guests. The outdoor games, bonfire, and observatory added a unique touch that everyone enjoyed. Thank you Calamus for making our wedding day truly unforgettable. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect celebration!

Wow, we just experienced an evening of the Calamus Star Gazing. The entire evening was fabulous. We started off with a fun and tasty cocktail while we checked out the grounds and games on the back lawn. Picture taking at its finest, the setting was beautiful. We then visited the showroom, tasted and chose our dinner wine, and had The Best buffet dinner, all organized to perfection, thanks to Andrew. It wasn’t intended to be about the food, but it certainly added to our experience. While finishing dinner we had excellent desserts, with many selections. To move a little, we danced to the wonderful band and ventured outside for star gazing. The fires and torches were being lit and the cigars and Double Barrel “William” Reserve were being tasted. This was a well run wedding atmosphere where everyone was happy, laughing and being greeted and attended to every need by Peter and his outstanding family of service attendants. Bravo for this experience and memories. We’re now becoming wine club members as we’ve never been welcomed like this! See you soon. Linda and Gile June 9 2023
