Family Heritage and Agricultural Roots

Our family's connection to the land began in the 1970s, when we cultivated and sold wine and olive oil to our local community. Years later, we returned to our roots, recognizing the Castelfranco area as a prime location for growing vines and olive trees. At Cantina Le Macchie, situated on the picturesque hills of Rieti, we blend traditional winemaking with modern techniques to create exceptional wines that reflect our dedication to quality and heritage.

Philosophical Reflections on Life and Winemaking

Life is a series of experiences, and our philosophy is shaped by the desire to return to our origins. Walking through our vineyards, we are reminded of the generations that came before us, their legacy evident in every vine. This connection to our past enriches our winemaking process, allowing us to create wines that tell a story of tradition and resilience.

A Historic Cellar and Winemaking Tradition

Our historic cellar, with roots tracing back to the 1400s, showcases the rich winemaking tradition of the region. Recently renovated, it retains ancient fermentation tanks that enhance the character of our wines. This space not only honors our past but also provides ideal conditions for aging, including our classic sparkling wine, which undergoes its second fermentation in these historic chambers. Join us for a guided tour of our cellars and vineyards, where you can savor our wines while surrounded by breathtaking landscapes.

It is almost a cellar of Vin de Garage and they adhere to CERVIM (heroic viticulture or from extreme lands). Very interesting wines, Riesling Renano (more unique than rare in Lazio) and Malvasia Passito those in my opinion the best ones. Adequate prices. Friendly and competent owners. Compliments

Special cellar!!! Excellent wines and the only one in the world where Cesenese Nero vines are cultivated using traditional methods that respect the identity of the grapes. White wines, red wines, sparkling wines and passito - there is something for every taste

A beautiful experience in the Rieti hills, the wine is made with love and professionalism, we hope soon a specification will be recognized for this area which truly deserves it and above all this winery deserves it, the Cesese nero and its orange wines are the flagship, afterwards we had lunch at the La Foresta restaurant and tasted many specialities, excellent alternatives even for vegans! Highly recommended.

We booked the Wine & Food Experience tour and were pleasantly surprised. Even though Cantina Le Macchie is a relatively young and small winemaker, the tour itself is quite interesting. Our guide was Giacomo (who also speaks English) a very pleasant young man who knows a lot about the company and the wine making process. The Cantina has some interesting and rare wines (Cesenese for eg) that were a pleasure to try. The location were they produce their Spumante (Metodo Classico) is situated in the ancient cellar underneath the church of Castelfranco. A must see! This specific tour also comprises a lunch at the Foresta restaurant nearby - something we can highly recommend.

An experience worth it? Absolutely yes... Visit the Le Macchie winery with tasting A pearl in the Reatino area. Wines with attention to detail are good to say the least... In the cellar there is a surreal sparkling wine, not to mention the Scarpe Toste UNPLUGGED, a sensory journey of taste... The Cesanese with a historic vineyard with 150-year-old vines... from which “l'ultimo Baluardo” is obtained, a wine with great structure. A sublime tasting, comparable to a quality aperitif with cured meats and bread of our own production and local cheeses.... Thanks to Giacomo for guiding us to the cellars and vineyards... And congratulations to Antonio for what he has achieved in an area like the Rieti area 🤩
