A Legacy of Cava Production Since the 1940s
A Rich Winemaking Heritage
The Ferret family has deep roots in the Penedes region, with winemaking traditions dating back to 1825. Their great-grandfather's purchase of grapes marked the beginning of a legacy that continues to thrive today. In 1907, Domingo Ferret established the first winery amidst the vineyards, where grapes were transformed into wine for bulk sales. By 1941, at just 17 years old, Ezequiel Ferret Olivella began constructing the cellar that would give birth to their renowned Cavas.
Located in the charming town of Guardiola de Font-rubi, just 10 km from Sant Sadurní d’Anoia and Vilafranca del Penedes, the winery is surrounded by lush vineyards. The base wines are crafted using modern pressing and fermentation techniques, which contribute to the unique character of their Cavas. The distinctiveness of each bottle reflects the local terroir, influenced by soil composition and climate.
At Cavas Ferret, sustainable viticulture and the preservation of native wildlife are top priorities. The intricate process of creating Cava begins with the manual harvesting of grapes, ensuring that only the finest fruit from old vines is selected. Despite the challenges of a less productive land, the combination of nature and skilled craftsmanship results in exquisite sparkling wines that captivate wine enthusiasts.
