Experience the passion of winemaking in the heart of Haut-Médoc's biodiverse vineyards
Located just north of Bordeaux, the Médoc region boasts stunning vineyards that stretch between the Atlantic beaches and the Gironde estuary. At the heart of this picturesque landscape lies Domaine Fontesteau, a 100-hectare estate dedicated to sustainable practices. Our commitment to preserving biodiversity is evident in our 20-hectare vineyard, which is organically farmed. Surrounded by a forest of century-old oaks, pines, and locust trees, along with a serene pond, the 13th-century castle is nestled in a rich ecosystem that supports diverse flora and fauna.
A 20-Hectare Vineyard
In the communes of Saint-Sauveur and Cissac-Médoc, we cultivate 20 hectares of vines that thrive in a climate shielded from extremes. Our 37 plots are dedicated to red Bordeaux grape varieties, primarily Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The Médoc terroir features a unique blend of gravel and aeolian sands over clay sub-layers, with limestone rocks beneath. This diverse soil composition allows our grape varieties to flourish, resulting in wines with complex aromas and deep-rooted flavors.
