Historic winery with Level 3 High Environmental Value and Cru Bourgeois certification
Château Saint Ahon- Winery with Charming and Friendly Setting
At the gates of Bordeaux, Château Saint Ahon welcomes you in a charming and friendly setting. Built in the 14th century, owned by Charles de Montesquieu in the 18th century, this Cru Bourgeois was acquired in 1985 by the Count and Countess Bernard de Colbert. Their daughter and son-in-law Françoise and Nicolas Chodron de Courcel moved there in 2003. The third generation arrives with their daughter Alice, responsible for communication and wine tourism at the property since 2017. The winery property and the vineyards in AOC Haut-Medoc are located 20 minutes away from the Bordeaux city center.
Winery Using Latest Technology
Only high-quality work in the vineyards can guarantee high-quality wine, and this is what is done here. All the latest technology and methods are used, including parceling the vineyard, drainage, thermoregulation, etc. Their work has a very low impact on the environment and preserves the nature and the health of their vines.
Their sustainable efforts earned them a Level 3 High Environmental value certification.
The vineyards are spread across 30 hectares in sandy soil with gravels. The main grape varietals here are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot processed to make red and rose wines.
High-Quality Wines
The Cru Bourgeois certification means they can produce a Cru Bourgeois each year, and it also guarantees the high quality and standard of their wines. All extractions are natural, and the wines are fermented carefully so that the wines achieve the desired taste. The winery’s Jardins de Mirabel tour won Gold in the Best of Wine Tourism awards. The winery also has two houses named after their mascots Mirabel and Bidule.
