Château Saint Ahon - A Welcoming Winery Experience

Located just outside Bordeaux, Château Saint Ahon offers a warm and inviting atmosphere. This historic winery dates back to the 14th century and was once owned by the renowned philosopher Charles de Montesquieu in the 18th century. In 1985, the estate was acquired by Count and Countess Bernard de Colbert, and their daughter Françoise, along with her husband Nicolas Chodron de Courcel, took over in 2003. Today, the third generation, represented by their daughter Alice, has been managing communication and wine tourism since 2017. The winery and its vineyards are situated in the AOC Haut-Médoc region, just 20 minutes from Bordeaux city center.

Modern Techniques for Quality Wines

At Château Saint Ahon, the focus is on quality. The winery employs advanced techniques such as vineyard parceling, drainage, and thermoregulation to ensure the health of the vines and the environment. Their commitment to sustainability has earned them a Level 3 High Environmental Value certification, reflecting their dedication to eco-friendly practices.

The vineyards span 30 hectares of sandy soil mixed with gravel, where the primary grape varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, used to produce both red and rosé wines.

Exceptional Wines and Award-Winning Tours

With Cru Bourgeois certification, Château Saint Ahon guarantees the quality of its wines, which are crafted with natural extractions and careful fermentation to achieve the desired flavor profiles. The winery's Jardins de Mirabel tour has received a Gold award in the Best of Wine Tourism, highlighting the exceptional visitor experience. Additionally, the estate features two charming houses named after their beloved mascots, Mirabel and Bidule.

Excellent welcome. Our guide explained the history of the castle very well. We learned a lot during this visit which ended with a good tasting. The area is very accessible by public transport from Bordeaux. I recommend the guided tour.

Alice always welcomes you with warmth and kindness in this exceptional place. I had the pleasure of working with her twice. The property offers an ideal setting for beautiful secular ceremonies outdoors in the shade of centuries-old trees. The reception room, on a human scale, creates an intimate and friendly atmosphere, perfect for celebrating a unique moment. And for couples sessions full of charm and authenticity, the back of the castle offers a sheltered setting, hidden from prying eyes.

A magnificent place where our boutique Secrets de Capucine performs its oversized fashion shows. What more can we say than that we are delighted with each edition! The team is attentive and always attentive. We are very seriously assisted and thank them for all their great collaboration. An idyllic reception place with a direct view of the barrel cellar from the room. We recommend it 100%🤩

Alice was an excellent guide. Her English was really good and she answered all of our questions. We could view the exterior of the Château, which was beautiful. We viewed the vineyard, the wine processing area, and the oak barrel storage area. This was followed by a tasting of two of the wine, decent size glasses which we were left to enjoy at our own pace. A lovely family owned and run vineyard.
