The Making of The Winery

The Château Le Bourdieu was built in 1830 by Phillipe Delacourt, the Lord of Bourdieu. The building was built in the style of a 19th century manor house. The estate is located in Medoc, close to the village of Valeyrac in one of the well known wine growing regions of France. What makes the region perfect for the production of high quality wines is the terroir on which the vines are planted.

Winemaking at Château Le Bourdieu

The total area of the estate is 46 hectares planted with a variety of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot. The harvesting is done by machine using grapes that are traditionally sorted by hand. The vats are made of inox steel and concrete. In terms of vinification, this is done using temperature monitoring and long maceration. The wines are aged for 12 months in oak barrels. From the pruning of the vines to the bottling of the wine during the fall months, the estate workers and completely dedicated to producing only the highest quality wines using the Medoc traditional methods. The wines of the Château Le Bourdieu have received a number of accolades both in France and abroad for their excellent quality and taste.
