A Château Nestled Among Olive Trees and Flora

Château Roubine is situated in the picturesque Var region of Provence, framed by lush pines and oaks. This vineyard boasts thirteen grape varieties, thriving in the clay-limestone soil that is ideal for producing exceptional wines. The name “Roubine,” derived from Provençal, means stream, reflecting the land's east-west orientation. Established in 1955, Château Roubine is one of the 23 wineries recognized as “Cru Classé” of the Côtes de Provence. Today, the estate spans 130 hectares, with 72 hectares dedicated to vineyards, combining modern technology with sustainable agricultural practices.

The Rich History of Château Roubine

Château Roubine's history dates back to the 14th century when it was owned by the Order of the Templars, later passing to the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem. In the 15th century, it became a cherished estate of prominent Provençal families. The ancient Roman road, Julienne, once traversed the property, enhancing its historical significance. Following the revolution in 1789, the estate was fragmented. In the 1800s, the Allaman family owned it before selling it to Anne Leclerc de Juigne de Lassigny in 1855. Henri de Rohan Chabot inherited the estate, which was rented to the Ott family in 1923. In 1994, Valérie Rousselle purchased Château Roubine, marking a new chapter in its storied past.

Commitment to Organic Practices

At Château Roubine, winemaking is rooted in respect for nature. The estate has been fully organic certified since 2017, ensuring that every stage of production honors the environment. Visitors can stroll through the vineyards throughout the seasons, learning about the essential practices and climatic conditions that contribute to the unique terroir of the region. This commitment to sustainability not only enhances the quality of the wines but also fosters a deeper connection to the land.

We were welcomed by a young man who spoke good English, wonderful red wine (even their own gin, great) and beautiful champagne with a very nice family history behind it. The owner of the Roubine wine house also welcomed us very warmly and even got a nice gift 🙏. Super beautiful view and delicious wines, so definitely go there🥂

Roubine is one of my favorite rosés from Provence. The welcome is extremely friendly, we start discussing rosés from the Var and end up in Polynesia! That day, a gentleman (Maori follower) with back pain carried the boxes to the car. Thanks again!
