The Passionate Winemaker

Eric Dunham, the founding winemaker, developed a love for wine early in life. As a teenager, he often sampled his parents’ diverse wine collection, even learning to pick the locks of their wine cellar, much to their dismay. His time in the Navy at Moffett Field in Santa Clara County didn’t deter his passion; he frequently visited Napa Valley to deepen his appreciation for wine. With a refined palate and a vision for crafting exceptional wines, Eric returned home and secured an internship at Houge Cellars. He later became the Assistant Winemaker at L’Ecole No. 41 in Walla Walla Valley, where he produced the first Dunham Cabernet Sauvignon in 1995. A few years later, he transformed an old WWII hangar into the charming Dunham Cellars we know today.

This is a unique tasting room, with some mighty fine wine, out in the airport district of Walla Walla. They've taken the time to really set up this huge tasting room space in a creative and fun way. We also appreciated the server - she was fantastic. We had a very pleasant visit, early July 2024.

The worst wines are very good and the best are spectacular. A fabulous place for a picnic and a tasting. The staff is always so helpful and kind. A reliably awesome, dog-friendly spot!!

Affordable great tasting wines. Must visit if you have limited time in Walla Walla wine country! We bought 4 reds we couldn’t live without, Syrah and Malbec. So nice of them to also give us a cab sav reserve (which went home with us as well). Winemaker Josh McDaniels makes great vino!

All-around stellar experience! Leanne (pardon any misspelling!) took such good care of me I made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. You could tell she loves what she does and stands behind the quality produced by Dunham! The wines are great and have a little bit of something for everyone… A white, rosé, plenty of reds… the space itself is also really fun, eclectic but sufficiently cohesive!

Kinda stumbled upon The Airport District and it’s anchor winery, Dunham cellars, on our search for the perfect Syrah. Was delighted by the picturesque grounds and the WWll airplane hanger turned tasting room. So much to take in! Really interesting venue and story. Oh, and the wine! Their Syrah is delicious with the perfect bite of spice! We grabbed a few to add to our collection. Everyone we met here was fun and so knowledgeable. They made our experience very enjoyable. Wish we could have met the puppy dog! We will be back for sure. Susan Says…if you walk a mile in my shoes, you’ll end up in a wine bar!
