After two decades of shaping Chateau Ste. Michelle into a renowned brand, Washington wine pioneer Allen Shoup envisioned a new project: Long Shadows Vintners. This winery brings together a collection of ultra-premium wines crafted by some of the world's most respected winemakers, all dedicated to showcasing the quality of Washington wines.

Exceptional Vineyards in Columbia Valley

The Columbia Valley is one of the newest premier wine regions globally, and it is gaining recognition for its unique combination of soil, sun, and climate. Influenced by the Pacific Ocean, mountain ranges, and ancient geological events, the region's terroir is ideal for cultivating a diverse array of high-quality grapes. With long, sun-soaked days and cool nights that preserve acidity, our vineyard selections are carefully chosen to maximize these natural advantages. As every winemaker knows, the quality of wine is deeply rooted in the land and the people who nurture it.

Expert Winemaking and Viticulture

At the heart of Long Shadows' success is Gilles Nicault, our director of winemaking and viticulture. Based in Walla Walla, Nicault has been instrumental in guiding the winery's vision since its inception. He oversees daily operations, ensuring that each winemaker's unique style and vision are reflected in both the vineyard and the cellar. His expertise helps maintain the high standards that Long Shadows is known for, resulting in wines that consistently receive acclaim.

The Inside Story experience was worth every penny. Anya was a fantastic host, and the wines we tried were among the best I've had in the Pacific Northwest. Get the charcuterie board, and enjoy one of the most beautiful tasting rooms in the region!

We have visited wineries all over the Pacific Northwest and not only is this wine amazing, our experience in the tasting room on July 12 was not only professional and informative, but the young woman (I believe her name is Shea) was delightful. Her background stories of the poetic wine names and the winemakers involved in each wine were told with evident pride. This tasting was like going to a play and watching a plot develop. Bravo to Long Shadow with regard to its wine and its employee.

Great Washington winery with a distinguished library and Chihuly glass exhibit. Our hostess, Sarah, was incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the wines produced here. Grapes come from around Washington so no vineyard on site.
