The Beginning of the Winery Dream

The owners say that opening the winery has been like birthing a baby, a very big baby who doesn't want to be born. The dream started on a normal spring day of 2006, when the owners Stacie and Russ Hamilton were sipping some superb Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, looking over the vineyards, and then experienced a perfect moment of tranquility and peace. Then a light bulb turned on both their minds and they turned to each other at the same time and said, """"Let's do this!"""" Thus the dream began.

Wine Making at Hamilton

The owners had always been great fans of the winemaker Charlie Hoppes, so they were determined to hire him as the consulting winemaker for Hamilton Cellars. The grapes are in the middle of the Columbia valley, home of the finest vineyards in the state, so all the wines are sourced within 50 miles of the tasting room. With their winemaker’s, guidance, they select the vineyards with a history of producing exceptional quality grapes for the wines.

Brought out our new camper to stay the night using HarvestHosts. Wife enjoyed a wine tasting, I had a glass of Merlot, and we brought two bottles back to the camper. One of which we opened to go with dinner, Our first time to use induction stove. Hamilton Cellars has 2 camping spaces. We enjoyed chatting with our 'neighbors' in the evening. What a great way to visit a winery.

We stopped here on 8/7 and had a lovely tasting. The lady who helped us was great (sorry I forgot name). It was laid back and had a view over the vineyards.

We stayed here with Harvest Host and had a lovely time. The winery dog, Sophia, is adorable. We had good conversation with Lisa. The wines were all delicious. The Rosé was the best. Beautiful views and the sunset here was simply amazing. Worth the stop!
