The winery started off in the early 2000s but the palace in their estates is of the 14th century. Fita Preta Vinhos is the perfect blend of culture and modernization. Over time, their palace has undergone changes that gives them flexibility in modern ways but at the same time also preserves their traditional touches. The culture is deep rooted here and their wines reflect the character of their culture and their region.

In the region of Alentejo, Fita Preta Vinhos grow their grapes in carefully selected vineyards. Their vineyards have textures that are rich in shale and minerals. The winery uses its knowledge of pests and diseases of vines to good extent and allows minimal use of spraying .
