Winemaking with great passion at Freser winery
In the Styria region of Slovenia, with ecological production on all 15 ha without any chemical pesticides and herbicides lies the Freser winery. The love of the land, nature and the vine lead the staff in caring for every drop from which the wine is produced with warmth, tenderness and passion.
In the 7 th generation of winemakers
In each of Frešer’s wines, one can feel the viticultural and winemaking tradition of the area, which the family has been developing for the seventh generation since 1832. The great-grandfather of the present owners was the first to invest his efforts in the land. Since then, the Frešers have been looking after the winery. Sustainable, organic viticulture is an important part of their philosophy. They apply natural methods of growing vines, and organic farming. Warm days and cold air that flows into the vineyards at night from Pohorje, fills their wines with a rich and full aroma and gives them a pleasant fruity freshness.
The sloping position of Ritozno and the altitude with the diverse composition of the soil give their wines a mineral taste with a full and complex note
Perfect soil conditions for great wines
The grape varieties cultivated in the vineyards mainly comprise of Rieslings, Sauvignon, Pinot noir and Riesling italiano. The staff leaves the tastes of their wines to the composition of the soil on which they grow vines. Clay and sandy lowlands (from 330 to 370 m above sea level) provide fruitiness and freshness to Sauvignon and Laško Riesling, while stone marl higher altitudes (from 370 to 480 m above sea level) enrich Rhine Riesling, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon and Laško with mineral flavors. The top categories of wine at the Freser winery produced are red, white and dessert wines.
