Ptujska Klet / Pullus Wines

The hosts from California are fans of Ptuj Pinot. I was pleasantly surprised.

The experience at this winery was brutal. We put together a wine pairing with sausage and cheese, each with the appropriate explanations from Vit. They have carefully stored bottles of wine from the last century and the entire 20th century. It was worth the visit.

The story of the oldest Slovenian wine cellar speaks of the long tradition of winemaking in Ptuj. Its beginnings go back as far as 1239, where Minorite friars built a wine cellar under their monastery. Its extensive collection of vintage wines includes a special treasure – Zlata trta (Golden Vine) from 1917, which is considered the oldest Slovenian wine. In addition to keeping exceptional vintage wines, the Ptuj Wine Cellar is also known as a cellar that creates pleasant, contemporary, and popular wines behind its thick historical walls. Booking is essential, the visit and tasting are not cheap but the service received is absolutely up to par.

Excellent presentation of the wines and the history of Ptuj winemaking. We tried several wines, including an archive wine from 1991 that was surprisingly good. The whole presentation was excellent.

Clear, clean white wines that benefit from the strength of the grape varieties. Internationally experienced winemakers ensure awards on the winners' podium.

Not bad, the oldest winery in Slovenia. You can find some really special wines.

Wine cellar with a quite a history. 777 years

I thought it was pretty good. The reisling was quite good or at least to me it was. They showed this impressive 9 projector slide show which in and of itself was interesting.
