Vinag Wine Cellar

We did the guided tour of the cellar, a really interesting experience. The tasting was also excellent with exceptional wines. Very friendly but at the same time professional staff. Highly recommended!

I have no idea if all the guides here are that good, but the one who showed me and two other people around the cellars of the winery was excellent and his English was impeccable. He gave us a wealth of knowledge about the winery, wine production and everything related to it. The place itself is very nice (events like literary readings, concerts, special events, etc. are also held here). It is possible to do a wine tasting at the end of the tour. I was not able to participate, but I took advantage and bought wines to take home - there is a great selection of them in the company shop located here. The guided tour, without tasting, lasts over an hour. Logically, the cellar is cool and humid, so it is advisable to dress appropriately.

The tour through the wine cellar is highly recommended. Very interesting and you have the opportunity to climb into an old wine container.

An old winery, although part of it no longer produces wine, you can see old barrels and what the facilities were like before. You can get tickets without tasting or for 5 euros more, you can try two glasses at the end. As it is a winery, it is advisable to bring a jacket, especially for children, because of the temperature.

I guess this is the main and most popular tourist place in this city. We chose a guided tour. The guide is very kind, patient, good English and knowledgeable. We enjoyed it and learned much. Tasting phase is also very pleasant. Their wines are of high quality and amazingly cheap price. Highly recommended.

The oldest winery in the city of Maribor. Here you can buy a guided tour with wine tasting. There is also a shop where you can buy souvenirs and local wines. For those who want to visit the Cellar, please note that on Sundays the Cellar is closed for tourists, but the shop is open. Very nice and helpful staff. A place to visit.

Self guided tours are available for those short on time for 10 eur. You can add a wine tasting for 5 eur more. Don’t miss it, the giant wood barrels are like nothing else we’ve seen!

Recommended place. Guided tour for 4 people in English. Rich history with some missing details that will surely come to light with time. Just think that there are more than 2.5 km of tunnels used in the past as a cellar right under the historic center.

A must-see stop. Discovering the galleries that hold ancient barrels where wine was once made. We were lucky enough to take the tour with a very helpful and friendly Italian guide. The wine tasting did not disappoint.

We pre-booked online and there was a group of 5 of us. We paid 25 euro with the tour and tasting. I think the tour was great, it was really interesting and linked in with the history of Maribor. The wine tasting was good, with generous helpings and tasty wines. I would recommend this to anyone looking for tourist attractions in Maribor.

This wine cellar is very impressive, with its numerous corridors and rooms. A guided tour is definitely worth it. You'll learn about the history of this wine cellar and about sparkling wine production. The tour in German was excellent.

The tour in German with the elderly lady was fabulous. She's super funny and knows absolutely everything about the wine cellar and wine in general. I definitely recommend it to everyone. The wine cellar is huge and really interesting to see! One star deducted because it was absolutely filthy up there during the wine tasting and in the waiting area beforehand. The restrooms had no lights and no toilet paper. They hadn't been cleaned or renovated in a very, very long time. But the excellent tour made up for it and improved everything else. This place has the potential to be a fantastic tourist destination!

One of the largest and oldest classical wine cellars in Europe is located in the heart of the city, under the Freedom Square and beyond. The oldest part of the wine cellar was built in 1847. Today it has a cellar with an area of 15,000 m2 and 2.1 kilometers of long underground tunnels that stretch below the Freedom Square to Partisan, Prešernove and Razlagova roads and take you to a world of intoxicating wine tastes. Wooden barrels, concrete tanks, wine bottle patina… they have a total capacity of 6 million liters! The most valuable specialty is certainly the wine archive, where we keep the best vintage bottles. After exploring the "Maribor Underground", stop by the cozy tasting room and enjoy an excellent wine tasting. You can also buy wines here.

We arrived late for the winery tour, but we enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine. The man who appears to be the owner was very friendly and recommended a restaurant for dinner.

The winery is located in the city centre. It is the largest winery in Europe located in the city centre. They offer a very interesting guided tour in English and Slovenian. They explain the history of the winery and the wine development procedures. At the end, you can taste the wines, which are very good quality white wines. They also have a bar where you can try their products without visiting. Everything is very well organised. The staff is very friendly and professional. I recommend everyone to try Pinot Gris and Traminec.
