Klet Brda Winery: A Legacy Since 1957

Located in the picturesque Brda region of western Slovenia, Klet Brda winery sits beneath the historic Dobrovo Castle. This area, nestled between the Adriatic Sea and the Alps, boasts a mild Mediterranean climate ideal for producing exceptional wines and olive oil. Established in 1957, Klet Brda has transformed the local winemaking landscape, replanting vineyards that now contribute to its reputation as one of the world's premier wine regions. The winery's cellar, situated 15 meters underground, houses stainless steel tanks and Slovenian oak barrels, producing around 8 million liters of wine annually. Among its prized possessions is the 1957 Rebula, a testament to the winery's rich heritage. Klet Brda is a cooperative of 400 families, working together for over fifty years to create a thriving winemaking community.

Commitment to Organic and Sustainable Practices

The Brda region's unique soils, microclimate, and rainfall create an ideal environment for viticulture. Rebula, the region's signature grape, plays a central role in Klet Brda's wine production. The winery prioritizes organic and sustainable farming methods to safeguard the environment and the health of its vineyards. Covering 1,000 hectares, the vineyards are planted on steep slopes, requiring much of the work to be done by hand. In addition to Rebula, Klet Brda cultivates Chardonnay, Merlot, Sauvignonasse, Syrah, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, and Sauvignon Blanc. The best grapes are handpicked to produce a diverse range of wines, including red, white, rosé, sparkling, and dessert varieties. Klet Brda's guiding principle is a profound respect for nature and its cycles, believing that the finest quality wines originate in the vineyard.
