A Story of Wines
Laurence Behind L'Entremetteuse
At its core our vision is one of small scale and a willingness to break away from traditional business standards. I would like to introduce myself, I am French, an agronomist and oenologist from Sub Agro Montpellier, I have lived in Chile for 28 years.
I have worked for 20 years in the wine industry in large or medium-sized wineries, I have worked almost all of my professional life in the Colchagua Valley and I feel deeply colchagüina. In 2016 I madea a180-degreee turn in my way of thinking about wines and started defending Colchagua from another point of view (#colchaguautrement), more artisanal and experience it, more minimalist because it seemed interesting to me to support this mapping of vineyards under another vision. I had in mind to break the schemes and all the received or pre-established ideas of Colchagua etc.
The Story of the Colchagua Valley
It is clear that there is a range of terroirs, microclimates, and vines in the Valley that extend from the Cordillera to the sea, and to be faithful to this landscape, vinification without added sulfites is a tremendous tool to seek identity and reinforce the origin.“Without corrective vinification, it is more difficult to make wine”, it is a question of the right balance that is acquired with experience and in this sense, each harvest is unknown. There is no intervention or correction, we do not pump, we try to be as detailed and careful with the raw material, and all imperfections are eliminated with a drastic manual selection. We do not use yeasts, enzymes, or tannins, there is no treatment or filtration, they are artifices that are there to compensate for a weakness in the raw material and we are going to work on this potential weakness with blends or a particular vinification method. One adapts to the differences of the vintages, we try to highlight them by presenting each year a new image of Colchagua with respect, sincerity, and simplicity.
