Family-Owned Napa Valley Wines Crafted with Care
The Beginning
Lobo Wines is the result of the passion shared by proprietors Krys and Randy Wulff. Named after the Spanish word for "wolf," Lobo pays homage to Napa's Hispanic workforce. Since 2007, the Wulffs have been crafting artisan wines that have garnered consistent acclaim. Their collection features a variety of wines, all made from 100% estate-grown fruit sourced from a single vineyard. This includes two Cabernet Sauvignons, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Rosé of Pinot Noir, and a proprietary red blend known as “Howl.” Each wine is produced in limited quantities and is meticulously farmed using sustainable practices.
The Winemaker
Victoria Coleman, who began crafting Lobo's red wines with the 2008 vintage, is the talented winemaker behind the brand. She honed her skills at Stag's Leap Wine Cellars under the guidance of Michael Silacci, the winemaker at Opus One. A graduate of UC Davis in viticulture and enology, Victoria also spent a season at Chateau Mouton Rothschild under Erick Tourbier. Notably, she is recognized as Napa's first black woman winemaker, bringing a unique perspective to the craft.
Wulff Family Vineyards
Our vineyard, located in the Oak Knoll District, supplies fruit to some of Napa's top producers, while we reserve a select few rows for our own wines. The region benefits from long, even growing seasons, with a fog layer that helps maintain temperature balance. The diverse soils—silty, loam, and clay with moderate gravel—allow us to cultivate a variety of grape varietals side by side, enhancing the complexity and character of our wines. The Atlas Peak estate, known as Villa Lobo, is dedicated to our flagship Merlot and Atlas Peak Cabernet. Situated at an elevation of 1,350 feet with slopes exceeding 14 degrees on volcanic rock, this site requires hand farming and presents challenges for both the vines and our team. With only 4 acres planted, we experience low yields due to the demanding conditions and close-row planting that encourages competition among the vines.
