Ostatu winery, located in the beautiful town of Samaniego
Wonderfully perched in the heart of the Rioja Alavesa territory, the Ostatu winery is located in the beautiful town of Samaniego. Due to the north-south facing, cultivated on chalky clay soils and micro-plot structure, the vineyards produce the best quality grapes. Enjoying the Mediterranean and Atlantic climate, the vines express the originality and traditions of the region.
The family-owned winery was established 250 years ago
All the production is under the DO Rioja Alavesa
Ostatu is a 250 years old winery established by the Saenz de Samaniego family. With great pleasure in winemaking, the family has dedicated itself entirely to produce rich-quality wines. The types of wines the company produces are delicious red, white, and rose wines all under DO Rioja Alavesa status. Today, Iñigo Saenz de Samaniego, the owner and the youngest member of the winery, has renovated the structure of the old cellar. Using both traditional and innovative methods, the owner has shaken hands with French technologies to produce wines that live up to full potential.
In the forty hectares, these are the main grown varieties – Tempranillo, Grenache, and Malvasia.
The estate covers an area of forty hectares where the owner grows a broad array of grapes. It includes high-quality Tempranillo, Grenache, and Graciano, in combination with fruity Mazuelo, Viura, and Malvasia. The vineyards are surrounded by charming Sierra de Cantabria mountain with an average of 50 years old grape plants.
Another exciting thing for tourists about the winery is to discover De Maison Selection. It is a collection and importing of exceptional wines, ciders, sherries, and spirits of the estate, started by one of the family members – André Tamers in 1996. This jewel connects various European vine-growers with retailers and restauranteurs.
