Podere Casanova, a Charming Winery in the Heart of Tuscany

Podere Casanova is a winery located in the Tuscan countryside, on the borders of Val d’Orcia near Lake Trasimeno and Montepulciano. The forest, vineyards, and cultivated fields around the winery enhance the region’s natural beauty. There is a lavender field at the winery entrance in tribute to the Tuscan countryside’s charms and natural perfumes.

The Owners’ Passion for Winemaking

Isidoro and Susanna, husband and wife, discovered this winery, and it immediately became their dream. The winery takes its inspiration from the beauty of the surrounding hills, the panoramic landscape, and the owner’s desire to craft exquisite wines. Isidoro and Susanna visited the place for a vacation and then settled there, setting up their dream winery. When they saw a farm called Casanova, they decided to buy it and renamed it Podere Casanova, a tribute to the famous historical person, Giacomo Casanova. The estate represents fifteen hectares of vineyards that they dedicate to Tuscan wine production and, in particular, to their famous Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Now, Isidoro is responsible for the creation and bottling of wines while Susanna markets and sells the wine worldwide.

The main grape varieties grown at Podere Casanova are Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Merlot. Sangiovese, called Prugnolo Gentile in Montepulciano, allows them to make their prestigious Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The proper fermentation process takes place at the winery and the maturation of wines in French oak barrels. It will enable the wine to develop intense oak flavors and great complexity.
