The name Querce Bettina comes from Tuscan legend dating back to the late 19th Century of an old lady who sat under an oak tree (Querce) spinning wool and telling stories of witches and wizards to young shepherds that passed by.Querce Bettiina is a small winery in Tuscany, Italy that produces limited quantities of wine in order to preserve the local tradition of high quality. This boutique winery is family owned and is perfectly situated on the slopes of Montalcino at an altitude of 440m above sea level.
The Aim of the Winery
The farm is run by a passionate husband and wife team who purchased the estate in 1990 and following years of research into the terrain, planted 2.4 hectares of Sangiovese in 1999. The main aim of this was to produce only two types of exceptional wines – Rosso di Montalcino DOC and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG and this was finally realised in 2009. Subsequently the range of wines has expanded with the release of limited quantities of Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG and IGT Toscana.
Organic Wines
The wines of Querce Bettiina have a long aging capacity and are completely organic. The winery produces approximately 15 thousand bottles of wine a year, using only the best grapes produced in their own vineyards. The production process is integrated from the grape to the bottle and in keeping with the territory and traditions is completely organic. Querce Bettiina wines are unique in that they evolve with age.
Along with wine, the Querce Bettiina farm is also famous for the production of excellent quality Olive oil.
For many years, Querce Bettina winery has been working closely with the Italian association ‘Vino e Salute’ that promotes the benefits of a healthy Mediterranean diet accompanied by a good glass of red wine.
