WINE AS A WAY OF LIFE

Since 1998, we have been crafting wines across Spain, fueled by our passion for uncovering the unique indigenous grape varieties that the country has to offer. In 2020, we found our home in Maluenda, a charming village in Zaragoza, where we purchased a cooperative winery. This location is ideal for us, as we believe it holds exceptional potential for Garnacha, a grape we deeply admire. The region's slate soils, high-altitude vineyards, and continental climate, enhanced by the cierzo wind, create perfect conditions for winemaking. Here, we can experiment with various techniques, using small concrete tanks, stainless steel, wooden foudres, and barrels, while continuing our quest to highlight the hidden gems of Spanish wines.

Our Four Main Projects

  • Las Pizarras

Calatayud, located 90 km south of Zaragoza, is a remarkable wine-growing region characterized by its stony, nutrient-poor soils rich in limestone. The vineyards thrive on mountain slopes ranging from 600 to 1,040 meters in elevation. Las Pizarras showcases the diverse terroirs and grape varieties of this area, allowing you to experience the unique flavors of each wine.

  • Raices

With over 70 indigenous grape varieties across more than 60 regions, Raíces offers a selection of wines that highlight our favorite native grapes, along with two signature blends crafted by our winemaker. We focus on remote areas and high-altitude vineyards, aiming to give each wine a distinct identity and value.

  • Carlos Ruben

Our winemaker, a true enthusiast of Grenache, has traveled extensively throughout Spain and even into southern France to find the best locations for this exceptional grape variety.

  • Ramito

Spain leads the world in organic vineyard area, with nearly 27% of global production. The area dedicated to organic vineyards has nearly tripled from 2009 to 2019. Our Ramito line features organic wines that blend native Spanish grape varieties with a hint of international grapes.

It is a winery that was founded a year ago. The founders are the winemaker Rubén and Marc, a Belgian winemaker. She is French and on the day of the tasting she took two red wines from Las Pizarras Pain. Local wine that is very good and a Miraflores rosé from Bobal. The next day we bought two white Ramito wines and Rubén was kind enough to welcome us. I really liked the winery and we were not able to visit it.

I was impressed by the number of brands and different wines crafted in this facility. It looked to me as a place that was refusing to die and looking creatively and passionately for new avenues. Some of the wines I had were outstanding. Keep going, Clemente and Asun!

It was a cold autumn morning, bordering more on winter due to popular word of mouth, and we were heading towards Zaragoza, more specifically to Maluenda, to spend the weekend relaxing in a rural house that we had rented. We wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city and the stress of hard daily CrossFit training for a few days. So we decided to make a stop at the local Raíces Ibéricas winery. I have to admit that I love wine and the whole world that surrounds it, it is fascinating, but I had never had direct contact with a winemaker. When we arrived at the winery, Paula, who would be our winemaking guide par excellence, was waiting for us, and I can say that it has been wonderful to have her presence. He explained to us in an excellent way how the wines were produced, how the winery was organized... but what was most interesting to me was the history of the area in terms of wine, which made me reflect on the fact that, despite the modernities that we have today, our ancestors already had the necessary knowledge to know where to produce and how to produce these items, which had now become some of the most sought-after. Paula then gave us a wine tasting which was very good since she explained to us in detail how to do it and what we could find from each of them. We loved the red wines especially the comparison with two different red wines that were created in two different ways, one with a red slate stone and the other at a different height with a black slate stone. I highly recommend the visit.

Looking for grenaches around the area, I was able to try "Las Pizarras" from the wineries "Iberian Roots". A good accompaniment to enjoy the flavor of the area vineyards. Recommended, "Alarba Vineyard", "High Las" and especially "Las Lomas"

Brilliant. The winery is highly recommended and the different wine collections are interesting. The visit to Paula was spectacular, as was the wine tasting, which was phenomenal. We not only tasted wines from the Calatayud region, but also curious wines such as the Asturian Albarín grape. Thank you to all the staff because we had a very good morning.
