Rio Maggio’s Annual Production is 100,000 Wine Bottles
Immersed in the heart of Ascoli Piceno of the Marche region, Rio Maggio is the property of the Santucci family located in the mesmerizing town of Montegranaro. Surrounded by hills, the vineyards are situated a few miles away from the sea, housing indigenous and international grape varieties. One of the oldest vineyard of the estate, Contrada Vallone, was planted 35 years ago still producing high-end Ascolani DOC wines.
Fifty Years of Intense History
Established in the mid-70s, the Rio Maggio winery results from Graziano Santucci’s immense passion for vineyards and winemaking know-how. He started the business with a boutique winery and even taught his son, Simone Santucci, all the wine production processes. After Graziano’s demise in 1997, Simone acquired the estate, along with his wife, Tiziana. Today, the duo expanded the winery by purchasing more viticulture land in Rosso Piceno and Falerio dei Colli Ascolani. Here, the couple grows top-quality Pecorino, Trebbiano, Verdicchio, and Passerina, together with unique Sangiovese and Montepulciano.
