Tenuta La Massa and Giampaolo Motta's dream

In 1992, driven by a blend of determination, vision and a great deal of hard work,Giampaolo took over a winery in Panzano in Chianti: Tenuta La Massa was born. From the very beginning, he forged a visceral bond with those 27 hectares of vineyards and woodland. He did not to cultivate them, but to listen to them, to understand them, to respect them and to interpret them. His vision, shaped between the hills of Chianti and the great French wines, has given life to wines that embody the essence of a bold choice and an identity that accepts no compromise.

Awesome experience. Some of the best wine in Tuscany. Much better tasting experience than the bigger, more well known wineries in the region. Ricardo did a great job with the tour/tasting.

While on vacation in Tuscany very recently, we had the chance and the privilege to visit Tenuta La Massa near Panzano in Chianti. Wow! It was one of the most interesting visit of this kind we ever had, if not the best! Filippo, our host and guide, was very knowledgeable and friendly, answering with passion all of our questions regarding the wine yard, the winery and the philosophy of the owner Mr Giampaolo Motta which we had the chance to meet. Yes, they do things differently in La Massa, not blindly following the guidelines and tradition of the Chianti appellation. They are driven by an obsession for quality and it shows everywhere. And the end result, which we discovered in our tasting, is simply fabulous. So good that I decided to bring back home 2 bottles of Giorgio Primo to celebrate milestones anniversaries. If you have only one winery to visit in Chianti, La Massa is a choice you won’t regret. Salute!
