Founded in 2001 by Wolfgang Reitzle and Nina Ruge, this estate invites visitors to experience the essence of Tuscany through its exceptional wines and extra virgin olive oil. Spanning 11 hectares, the vineyard produces approximately 30,000 bottles of wine and 2,500 liters of olive oil each year, all crafted from estate-grown grapes.

Initially envisioned as a holiday resort, the estate transformed into a winery with the guidance of viticulture experts. Renowned enologist Antonio Spurio plays a crucial role in the vineyard's success, overseeing every aspect from soil preparation to grape selection and vinification. This meticulous approach ensures that each bottle reflects the highest quality standards.

The vineyard cultivates a variety of grapes, including Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Vermentino, which are used to create red, white, and rosé wines. Since 2006, Villa Santo Stefano has produced four signature wines: the red Loto and Sereno, the white Gioia, and the rosé Luna. Their Vino Rosso DOC and Vino Bianco and Vino Rosato IGT are also celebrated for their authentic representation of the Tuscan terroir.

Enthusiasm, quality and hospitality at Villa Santo Stefano!

A wine tasting at Piazza San Michele at the beginning of our vacation in Lucca and a quick look at the Villa Santo Stefano website motivated us to shop at this winery. In addition to the white wine "Gioia" we tasted, we also purchased a few bottles of the red wines "Volo" and "Sereno" directly from Villa Santo Stefano. We visited the well-maintained winery unannounced and were warmly welcomed by Francesca (Sales & Marketing, Olive Oil Sommelier). Her sparkling enthusiasm for the wines and the house olive oil was so contagious that the five of us returned to Villa Santo Stefano three days later for a guided tasting. Petra (Head of Sales & Marketing) guided us through the facilities and wine cellar and accompanied us during the tasting. This time we did more shopping! The expertise, enthusiasm, and friendliness, coupled with the quality of the wines, remain an unforgettable souvenir of our vacation in Lucca. We also fondly remember repeated warm and joyful encounters with Francesca and her mother (administrator) in the Sant' Alessio supermarket, where many regional products are available!
