Viticulture in the Riviera D'Ulisse

From the dunes to the foot of the mountains a few kilometers from the sea, the vine in the Rivera D'Ulisse has always dominated the landscape until at the beginning of the last century it was supplanted by other more profitable crops. Our challenge is to bring the vineyard back to those lands that since the times of the Ancient Romans produced the most prized wines of the Empire.

The Story

Producers of Excellence

The company was founded in 2011 when the Pirozzi - D'Ausilio family, already producers of buffalo mozzarella for generations, decided to plant the first two hectares of vineyard with native varieties (Moscato di Terracina) and international varieties (Syrah) in Sciobaco, an agricultural district of the city of Fondi, which will give its name to the first labels produced. After a decade of experimentation, they have arrived at producing a new label with the best company grapes that even more embodies the coastal territory from which it comes, the Costa D'Ulisse.

Sustainable Production

In winemaking we try to intervene as little as possible, limiting the use of oenological products to sulfur only, when possible. The grapes are carefully selected by hand and vinified separately based on the potential that each parcel has. The cellar operations, from racking to bottling, are performed in a minimally invasive way, often without the use of pumps, and following the lunar phases.

The vineyard of via Sciobaco

The vineyard, located in via Sciobaco, enjoys a terroir characterized by the influence of the sea, the surrounding mountains and an excellent temperature range. These conditions, combined with the sustainable agricultural practices we use, such as the use of compost or the sowing of green manure, allow us to bring to the cellar grapes suitable for the production of high quality wines.
